Zora Mae Perry Perkins, age 88, of Taylor, Michigan, formerly of Rowan County, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021, at her home.
Born July 22, 1932, in Morehead, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Leslie Lee Perry and Laura Ellen Sargent Perry. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Edward, Roderick, Ulysis, Auttie, and Delbert “Leon” Perry.
Zora was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, James R. Perkins on December 16, 2012, and their son, James E. Perkins, and granddaughter, Ellen Marie Perkins.
She is survived by a son, Barry Richard Perkins of Bradenton, Florida; a daughter, Rita Ellen Perkins Boyd of Taylor, Michigan; a sister, Clasie Moore of West Liberty, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Doreen Jean, Linda Gail, Amanda Gayle, Jessica Renee, James Allen, Mark Adam, and Lindsay Michelle; 16 great grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Zora was a devout Christian and faithful member of Gateway Church of Christ in Southgate, Michigan. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all the family, including her church family, and many friends.
A celebration of life service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with her grandson, Jim Boyd, officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Jones Cemetery on Jones Ridge, Morehead, Kentucky.
Pallbearers: Jim Boyd, Mark Boyd, Brendan Brewer, Dennis Slusarz, Randy Robinson and Casey Robinson. Honorary pallbearers: Linda Perkins, Amanda Boyd, Lindsay Halicki, Lisa Perkins, and Kennedy Boyd.
Visitation will be 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
COVID-19 mandates will be observed including masks and social distancing.
