William Emory “Bill” Rogers, age 90, of S. Hwy. 211, Salt Lick, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024, at U.K. St. Claire Hospital in Morehead, Kentucky.
Bill was born August 10, 1934, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, a son of the late Charles Franklin Rogers and Isora Wills Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Franklin Rogers and Herman Carl Rogers; and three sisters, Mattie Lou Bartley, Beulah Manley, and Geneva Gibbs.
Bill was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Frankie Gay Hurt Rogers, on March 22, 2015.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, William Rick (Kathy) Rogers of Morehead, Kentucky, and Steven Franklin (Jennifer) Rogers of Owingsville, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Melody Noel and Shanna Matthews; and three great grandchildren, Payton Noel, Makenna Noel and Devin Matthews.
Other survivors include two sisters, Jean Dale and Lela (Bill) Johnson, all of Mt. Sterling; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family, and friends.
Bill retired from A.O. Smith in Mt. Sterling in 1991 and following his retirement worked as a campground host for the U.S. Forest Service. He had been a farmer and for a number of years worked in a manufacturing plant in Ohio. He appreciated the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and horseback riding. Bill will be greatly missed by those who lives he touched during his earthly journey.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Mack Cemetery in Frenchburg, Kentucky, with Brother Relzda McNabb and Pastor Mark Caldwell officiating.
Pallbearers will be Terry Kleczinski, Brandon Carty, Kenny Hurt, Kevin Hurt, Casey Hurt, Steve Smallwood, Greg Mullins, Phil Lawson, Matt Smith, and Chris Noel.
