William Allen “Bill” Hamm, age 61, of Hogtown Hill, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020, at his home.
Born April 1, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he is the son of Margaret Collins Hamm of Clearfield, Kentucky, and Gene S. Hamm, who passed away June 11, 2016.
In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by his wife, Brenda Cornett Hamm, whom he married March 21, 1984; one son, Shane Hamm (Dee) of Morehead; two daughters, Starla Akers (Jerry) of Peebles, Ohio, and Amber Hamm (Tim Walters) of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and nine grandchildren: Ireland Eve, Jakoda Dean, Adia Juliet, and Jonah Paul Akers, Jacob Allen, Sean, and Sophia Taulbee, Kiera Walters, and Jack Hamm.
Other survivors include two brothers, Bob Hamm of Clearfield and Ron Hamm (Judy) of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Cathy Crager (Louie II) of Clearfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Bill graduated from Rowan County High School in 1977 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1977-81. After returning to Kentucky, he worked for the Rowan County Board of Education and Sealmaster before becoming a union electrician. He retired in 1995. Bill enjoyed his family, collecting Coca Cola memorabilia, and taking care of his pet dogs.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at the Harold White Lumber Picnic Area, 2920 Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, followed by a celebration of life beginning at 3 p.m. with Pastor Rick Stone officiating. Full military honors will be presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
