Willard Dean “Curley” Curtis, age 75, of Morehead, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021, at Baptist Health in Lexington.
Born October 9, 1945, at Sharkey in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Oral Glen Curtis and Myrtle Johnson Curtis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Brenda Reffitt Curtis, whom he married November 13, 1965; one beloved son, Michael Curtis of Atlanta, Georgia; one precious granddaughter, Lauren Curtis; and one brother, Harold Curtis of Owingsville.
Willard was the former owner of Curtis Lumber in Sharkey. He was a loyal husband, devoted father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. Curley worked hard to get ahead. He liked to shop for bargains and loved to negotiate. He also loved good flea markets and yard sales. He was a collector of knives and enjoyed car racing and classic cars. He was never in a hurry and was a thoughtful decision maker, always taking precautions, and predicting the outcome. He enjoyed people and always wanted to know what everyone else was doing. Willard loved God and going to church. He was a faithful member of Hedrick Community Church.
