Wilford Eugene Oakley, 83, of Olive Hill, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022, at St. Clarie HealthCare in Morehead.


Born July 7, 1939, in Carter County, he was a son of the late Heman Oakley and Dorothy Hall Oakley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Oakley; two sisters, Lenora Oakley Catron and Linda Oakley Carter; and three brothers, Sim Oakley, Jimmie Oakley, and Bill Oakley.


He is survived by his wife, Shirley LeMaster Oakley; one son, Steven E. Oakley and wife Lisa of Olive Hill; one brother, Louie Oakley (Lucille); two sisters, Sarah Jane Oakley Carver and Arlene Oakley Porter (Glennis); many nieces and nephews.


 Wilford served in the U.S. Army for 20 years and was of the Protestant faith.


Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Evan Meyer officiating.   He will be laid to rest at the Manning Chapel Cemetery on Mocabee Creek Rd., Olive Hill, Kentucky. Full military honors will be presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.


Pallbearers will be Paul O’Daniel, Ike Oakley, Jack Brown, Todd Airs, JB Carter, and Darrin Caudill.  Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Fraley and Larry Carver.


Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
