Waneta Fern (Grimshaw) Scharff

Waneta Fern Grimshaw Scharff, loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and GiGi, of Caudill Cemetery Road, Morehead, passed away Monday, October 11, 2021, at U. K. Medical Center in Lexington from surgical complications.

She was the first-born child of Francis L. Grimshaw and Alta “Sis” Kribs Grimshaw, born on July 28, 1955, in Saginaw, Michigan.  She was preceded in death by her mother on December 29, 2015.

Left to cherish her memory is her father, Francis L. Grimshaw of Morehead; one daughter, Tina Scharff of Morehead; one son, Michael Scharff of Vassar, Michigan; one granddaughter, Kayla Scharff-Ruiz; and two great granddaughters, Madison and Maggie.

Other survivors include one sister, Janet (Steve) Young of Salt Lick; two brothers, Ivan (Debbie) Grimshaw of Morehead and Ed (Erenia) Grimshaw of Bonnieville; one special cousin and best friend, Brenda Smedley Miles of Morehead; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Waneta attended Chadwick Country School and Vassar Public Schools, graduating in 1973. She spent her adult life caring for adults with disabilities and was known for her tender care. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Her greatest enjoyment was caring for others. Waneta will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Reverend Tim Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Caudill Cemetery on Sharkey Road.

Family will serve as pallbearers.
