Virginia "Bootsie" Nancarvis Obituary

 

Virginia “Bootsie” Clevenger Nancarvis, 78, of 182 Jackson Ridge Road, West Liberty, died of natural causes Friday, November 12, 2021. Virginia was retired at the time of her death.  She was employed previously as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, PA, and at IHS of Hershey at Woodlands, Hershey, PA.

 

Virginia was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, WV, and attended the Trenton Nursing Academy in New Jersey. She furthered her education, graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Lebanon County Career and Technology Center in Lebanon, PA.  Virginia lived most of her adult life in Manheim, PA, where she raised her four children. While there, she founded or participated in a number of socially conscious organizations focused on promoting the adoption of solar as an energy alternative.

 

Later in life, Virginia made West Liberty her home.  She enjoyed many pastimes, such as quilting, canning, gardening, collecting recipes, discussing politics, and studying the United States Constitution.

 

Virginia was born in Charleston, WV, on April 24, 1943, to Emory Lee and Valda Sargent Clevenger, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Nathaniel “Jack” Clevenger and Emory Lee Clevenger and one sister, Robin Clevenger Gieb and her husband, Thomas Nancarvis.

 

She is survived by three sons, James Nancarvis, Timothy Nancarvis, husband of Karyn, and Thomas S. Nancarvis and one daughter, Cheryl Firestine, wife of Bradley. Virginia is also survived by two brothers, David Clevenger and Glenn Clevenger and two sisters, Alice Underwood Cottrell and Terry Clevenger Smallwood, as well as six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and other relatives. 

 

A memorial service for Virginia will take place Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 3:00 pm at Wrigley Baptist Church, located at 10891 Highway 7, West Liberty, KY 41472.
