Violet Marcella Adkins Sloan, age 92, of Holly Fork Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at her residence.
She was born May 21, 1933, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Garl and Sarah Hicks Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Roger Sloan, who passed away on November 2, 2002; two sisters, Hazel Sweeney and Geneva Kegley; one brother, Garl Adkins; and one granddaughter, Megan Sloan.
Violet is survived by one son, Roger Sloan of Morehead, Kentucky, and one daughter, Atonja Stevens of Florida; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Heather) Sloan, Jerri-Lynn Stevens, Billie Rebecca Williams, and Moriah Brooke Sloan; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was a former employee of Westinghouse in Mansfield, Ohio, and later moved back to Kentucky where she worked for the U.S. Forest Service and Wal-Mart in Morehead. Violet enjoyed playing rummy, working crossword puzzles, and cooking. Most of all, she cherished spending time playing with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with burial following in Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Jakob Sloan, Jeremy Sloan, Bill Sloan, John Adkins, Glen Adkins, Daryl Adkins, and Garl Adkins.
Visitation will be Monday, December 29, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and any time prior to the service on Tuesday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
