Valerie Ann (Porter) Malone

Valerie Ann Porter Malone, age 53, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.

Valerie was born October 27, 1970, in Morehead, the daughter of Roger and Rita McManus Porter of Morehead.

In addition to her parents, Valerie is survived by her husband, Derek L. Malone, whom she wed January 21, 1999; three daughters, LeeAnn Malone and D. J. of Morehead, Rachael Maureen Wise and Williamson of Louisville, and Amanda Nicole Hall and Bruce of Morehead; five grandchildren, Calvin Justice, Leo Hall, Delilah Hall, Silas Cavan Wise, and William Lee Wise.  One brother, Jeffery Lee Porter, preceded her in death on August 2, 2015.

After graduating from Rowan County Senior High, Valerie met her soulmate, Derek. She found a future in being a wife, an incredible mother and a loving Nana. She enjoyed gardening, camping, sitting on the beach, and watching soap operas. Valerie gave one of the greatest gifts of all by being an organ donor. She has saved countless lives and will always remain in our hearts. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Arturo Molina officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Roger Porter, Derek Malone, Bruce Hall, D. J. Short, Will Wise, and Ron Porter.  Mike McManus will serve as an honorary pallbearer. 

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
