Tony Ray Jones

Tony Ray Jones, age 62, of Morgan Fork Road, Morehead, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019, at Baptist Health in Lexington.

Born December 21, 1956, in Rowan County, he is the son of Angia Pernell Walker of Morehead and the late Lona L. Jones.  Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Jones, and one brother, Timothy Edward Jones. 

In addition to his mother, Tony is survived by two daughters, Angel Marie Johnson and Veronica Barbie Michelle Jones-Conley and husband Robert, all of Morehead; three grandchildren, Lindsay Jones, Aiden Johnson, and Ryliegh Goble; and two great grandchildren, Colson Conley and Oakley Conley.

Other survivors include three sisters, Barbara Johnson of Clearfield, Jean Whobrey and husband Larry of Pomeroy, Ohio, and Bessie Hamm and husband Charlie of Morehead; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Tony served 17 years in the U.S. Army National Guard, had been a self-employed mechanic, and a former employee of Day’s Resale. 

He loved his family passionately and enjoyed being a jokester and having fun with all the family in “Jonesville,” their home place.  He especially enjoyed family get-togethers and delicious food, with his favorite strawberry milkshake. He was extremely mechanical and could fix almost anything with his hands.  Tony gave credit to the Lord and praised Him for his life and everything he had.  He was a devoted Bible reader who read the Word daily and spent time interpreting the Bible, taking notes, and making references.  He will be sadly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Brother Charlie Hamm officiating.  Burial will follow at Pernell Cemetery with military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126.

Pallbearers:  Kevin Whobrey, Scott Whobrey, Randy Smith, Ricky Smith, Daniel Dillon, and Brandon Hamm.

Visitation is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
