Timothy Conner II, Ph.D. Obituary

On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, Timothy W. Conner II, Ph.D., 40, father, husband and educator, passed away after a brief illness at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Tim was born on July 3, 1980 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He was the son of Tim and Terri Conner and Marleen and Bruce Troxell.

Tim married Della Howard Conner on October 25, 2002.  They were blessed with one child, Timothy James Conner (TJ).  The day TJ was born was the happiest day of Tim’s life.  He loved being a father and was so proud of TJ and shared that love and pride with anyone that would listen.

Tim was a lifetime learner and educator.  He moved to Morehead in 1998 in order to attend Morehead State University. He was an undergraduate student from 1998 until 2002 and graduated with a degree in Music Education. His first teaching position was with Menifee County schools where he taught music to elementary and middle school students. It was during this time that he began to pursue a Masters in Special Education at MSU.  After completing his master’s degree, he taught special education in Fleming County.  He was then hired by MSU as an instructor in the Education Department where he taught Human Growth and Development classes while working on his doctorate.  Tim received his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Kentucky. The day he officially became Timothy W. Conner II, PhD was the second most happy day in his life. After leaving his position at MSU he spent the 2019 – 2020 school year serving as the Special Education Director at West Point Independent School District in Hardin County.  He was currently employed with Jefferson County School District as a sixth-grade teacher at Lassiter Middle School.  Tim accomplished all this while fighting major health issues most of his adult life.  He took courses, taught classes and worked on his dissertation many times working from his numerous hospital beds. He taught classes while pushing an IV pole at one point in time. He even had work from his school in his backpack when he died.  Tim never gave up, he just kept going no matter what life threw at him.

Tim is survived by his wife, Della, son TJ and step-daughter Jaime Miko along with four grandchildren:  Kendall, Haylee, Parker and Lincoln.  His father Tim, and brothers: Jesse Lucy, Michael Conner and Benjamin Conner.  Tim’s sisters: Trina Lucy, Sarah Conner, Heather Strawder, and Larissa Conner, as well as his nieces and nephews. Tim was preceded in death by both of his mothers, Terri and Marleen.  His step-father, Bruce and a sister, Maryanne.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for late fall where Tim’s family and friends will come together to remember him with music and stories of his life.  If anyone would like to do something in Tim’s memory, donations can be made in his memory to the Morehead University Choir Program.
