Thomas Allen “Tom” DeHart, age 88, of US 60 East, Morehead, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born January 12, 1935, in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was a son of the late Roy Virgil DeHart and Leola Doris Woliver DeHart.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley Ann Gee DeHart, whom he married August 27, 1959; two sons, Tony David DeHart and wife Vicky and Thomas Randall DeHart, and one daughter, Bonita Marlee DeHart Jessee, all of Morehead; three grandchildren, Jessica Dewitt, Jarvis DeHart, and Katie Perry; five great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and expecting an additional great-great grandson next month.
Also surviving are two sisters, Judy Thomas and Shirley Wages, both of Morehead; one brother, John DeHart of Covington; extended family; and friends.
Tom was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Ashland (Marathon Oil). He received the KY Admiral Award while at Marathon for saving a man’s life in a work-related boating accident. He enjoyed being busy, working on diesel engines, and challenging puzzles, but most of all he loved his family, especially the grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Slaty Point Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating. Full military honors will be presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Legion members will also serve as pallbearers.
Visitation for Tom DeHart will be from 1:00 p.m. until 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
