Thelma Regina "Jean" (Fultz) Buckner

Thelma Regina “Jean” Fultz Buckner, age 82, of Winchester, formerly of Morehead, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at Dover Manor in Georgetown.

Born August 15, 1938, in Morehead, she was the daughter of the late Orville W. and Mary Elizabeth Cundiff Fultz of Morehead.  In addition to her parents, she was  preceded in death by her husband, Clyde M. Buckner, who passed away June 14, 1993; a daughter, Rhonda Gail Buckner Holbrook; a son, Lanny Buckner; three brothers, Orville W. Fultz, Jr., Elijah Monroe Fultz, and Hubert T. “Tommy” Fultz; and six sisters, Mary Evelyn Fultz Jones, Loretta Elise Hamilton, Edna Cummings, Myrtle Chesshire, Betty Lipps, and Patricia Boyd. 

She is survived by one son, Edmund Karl Buckner of Winchester; two daughters, Claire Susan Schaaf of Flint, Michigan, and Anita Buckner Owens of Winchester; one brother, Kenneth Ray Fultz of Mansfield, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Brandon Keith Holbrook, Brandi Owens, Mareena Owens, Tiffany Mullins, Jason Buckner, Angie Ready, Lanny Buckner, Jr., Randy Schaaf, and Tara Harrington, as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Jean retired as a Kentucky State Veteran’s Representative for Manpower Services in the Gateway Area.  Besides working for the state, she was co-owner of Buckner’s Garage and managed rental properties.  Always family oriented, Jean enjoyed homemaking, sewing, cooking, and especially doting on her grandchildren, who brought so much joy to her life.  Jean will be remembered with love in years to come. She attended the First Church of God. 

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 7, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bill C. Konstantopoulos officiating.  Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
