Terry Winkle Obituary

Terry Allen Winkle, age 75, of Morehead, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at VA Medical Center in Lexington.

Born November 19, 1948, in Springfield, Ohio, Terry was a son of the late Nina Ruth Barker Whitt and Ed Winkle. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Mike Winkle, Kenny Winkle, and David Winkle, and two sisters, Angela Whitt and Debbie Whitt.

Terry is survived by his wife and best friend of nearly 56 years, Judy Diane Mabry Winkle, whom he married December 26, 1968, and created a lifetime of memories together. His greatest pride and joy were his three daughters, Denise (Allen) Lelesch, Shirley (David) Doll, and Amanda Sanders, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; his adored grandchildren, Brett Lelesch, Destanee Lelesch, Kortney Sayer, and Kamryn Doll; and great granddaughter, Adalyn Lelesch.

Other survivors include his siblings, Wendell Winkle of Sandy Hook, Rhonda Hanes and Sheila Craft, both of Morehead, and Joy Adams of Springfield, Ohio; many nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family and many friends.

Terry was a dedicated coal truck driver and mechanic throughout his career and was a member of the Lytten Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.

He found joy in attending church, watching Westerns, fishing, and playing games. Terry was known for his love for his family and his sincere desire to make others laugh. He had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Terry Allen Winkle will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of laughter, love, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
