Susan Kaye “Sue” Kendall Black, age 74, of Hardin, Kentucky, formerly of Morehead, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Calvert City Nursing Home in Calvert City, Kentucky.
She was born May 26, 1951, in Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Virgil Kendall and Mary Emily Warne Kendall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Black, and one brother, Steve Kendall.
Sue is survived by her son, Jeff Black of Grayson; her daughter, Melissa Estes (Rich) of Hardin, Kentucky; six beloved grandchildren, Walker and Peyton Black, Nathan Smith, Caitlyn Lester, Christopher Estes, and Ashleigh Crabtree; and nine cherished great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her brother and sister, Thom Kendall and Ann Sparrow, both of Springfield, Ohio; and six special nieces and nephews: Stephanie, Carly, Jason, Matt, Wesley, and Joseph. She will be fondly remembered by many other extended family members and friends.
Sue was a retired bank teller for Whitaker National Bank and also worked at the Morehead Walmart. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Carter County Homemakers Club. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Pastor Andy Lands officiating. Burial will follow in Pennington Cemetery on Big Brushy Road.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Smith, Dougie Black, Jeff Black, Walker Black, Peyton Black, and Rich Estes.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
