Susan Pauline Gevedon Peyton, age 95, of Peyton Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at her residence.
Born February 14, 1925, in Morgan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Elijah W. Gevedon and Hester Mae Haney Gevedon. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Homer, Jimmy, and Charles Gevedon; three sisters, Eunice Black, Jean Benton, and Mary Jo Gevedon Thompson; and a great grandson, J. D. Maschino.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Peyton, whom she married November 12, 1965; one son, Jerry C. (Jewell) Maschino of Morehead; five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Other survivors include five sisters, Evelyn Gevedon, Christine Schmidt, Janice Thompson, and Betty Vinson, all of Mt. Sterling and Lee Benton of Wauconda, Illinois; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Mrs. Peyton was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and sister. A woman of faith, she was a member of East End Church of God where she enjoyed singing with her husband and served as a Sunday School teacher.
She also enjoyed playing the piano, writing gospel songs and had one published, working in flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Hamm and Pastor Roger Long officiating. The service will be live streamed at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Facebook page beginning at 2 p.m.
Burial will follow in Grassy Lick Cemetery in Morgan County. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
