Sue Ann Nichols Tackett, age 84, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday morning, October 5, 2020, at her residence.
Born September 28, 1936, in New Lexington, Ohio, Sue was the daughter of the late Reverend Calvin and Mildred Larimer Nichols.
Sue is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ben Tackett, whom she married on August 11, 1962; two sisters, Mary (Larry) Barrett of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Carol (Steve) Gough of Peru, Indiana; two daughters, Melody Tackett Mason of Morehead, Kentucky, and Julie (Kevin) Anderson of Morehead, Kentucky; one son, Benny (Rebekah) Tackett of West Fargo, North Dakota; four grandchildren, Brittany Jones, Ryan Jones, Nick Anderson, and Luke Tackett; one great granddaughter, Nora Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sue graduated from New Lexington High School in New Lexington, Ohio, in 1954. She began her higher education at Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana, and eventually completed her Bachelor of Science in Business Education and a graduate degree at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky.
At the beginning of her career, Sue worked as a teller and bookkeeper at Perry County Bank in New Lexington, Ohio, and First National Bank in Portsmouth, Ohio. She later taught in the Business Department at Fleming County High School in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, where she retired in 1997.
She was a member of the Church of God and loved all of the ladies in her Sunday school class. Her Christian witness was in her everyday life. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15.
A visitation will be held at Morehead First Church of God, 576 Sunset Drive from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, immediately followed by a celebration of life service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Allan Hutchinson officiating. For those who prefer to participate virtually, the service will be live streamed at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Facebook page beginning at 3 p.m.
Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 2835 Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, Kentucky. Palmer Adkins, Kevin Anderson, Nick Anderson, Ryan Jones, Luke Tackett, and Willis Taylor will serve as pallbearers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
