Sue Blair Lewis, age 77, of Morehead, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019, at the U.K. Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
Born June 21, 1942, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Walter Scott Gillock and Verna Osborne Gillock. Sue’s husband, Bobby Scott Lewis, preceded her in death on November 29, 2018.
Sue is survived by three children: Lisa Blair Banks of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Jennifer Blair Anderson and husband Joe of Morehead; Judge Don Blair and wife Tara of Mt. Sterling; six grandchildren: Madison Delk, Ryan Anderson, Haley Banks, Emma Banks, Harper Anderson, and Sofie Blair; one great grandson, Zion Delk and one step grandson, Dane Klute.
Other survivors include her brother, Scott Gillock and wife Barbara of Harrodsburg; one niece; Michele Hall; and one nephew, Bradley Gillock.
Sue received a bachelor’s degree (cum laude) from Morehead State University, attended the University of Louisville, and was certified in Radiologic Technology. For more than twenty years, she worked in various medical environments, including Louisville General Hospital and Community Hospital in Springfield, Ohio. Recognized for community service, Sue was the recipient of the Kentucky Ambassador of Good Will Award and was named a Kentucky Colonel.
Even though Sue attained professional success and enjoyed community activities, such as STAR and FOP, her main dedication and love were her children. She was involved with every aspect of their lives and was completely immersed in their activities and future endeavors. Sue’s life was fulfilled with the addition of grandchildren, whom she adored. She received great joy from everyday happenings to special events with her family and beloved dog Sam. Her inspiration will influence many generations.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Alex Lockridge officiating. Burial will follow in Machpelah Cemetery in Mt. Sterling.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
