Stevie Call Obituary

Stevie Call, age 74, of Sunset Road, Hillsboro, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at UK Medical Center, in Lexington, surrounded by family after a life full of love, hard work, and community spirit.

Born November 7, 1950, in Maysville, he was a son of the late Jewell Day Call and Lela Mae Flora Call and the grandson of the late Maudie Cooper Call and Elbert Brooks “Brooksie” Call.

Stevie was the devoted husband of Donna Jean Pruitt Call for 46 years until she passed on August 9, 2024.  He was a proud father to Amber Call of Hillsboro and Alicia Murray of Wilmington, North Carolina. He also leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Connie (Mike) Honaker of Paris; two nieces, Paige Honaker of Newport and Brooke Honaker (Jared Cote) of Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as extended family and numerous dear friends.  His love extended to his beloved pets Holstein, Kate, and Tabby, as well as many cherished dogs and cats through the years, each one a part of the family and a reflection of his big heart.

Stevie wore many hats in his lifetime. A lifelong farmer, Stevie had a passion for raising cattle and tobacco, tending the land with care and enthusiasm. He followed in the footsteps of his father, Jewell, when he entered public service and was elected magistrate, a role he held with integrity and a deep sense of responsibility to his community for 12 years.

Whether at the Handi-Mart, Tilton store, the post office, or the Flemingsburg Dairy Queen, Stevie never met a stranger. He had a way of making friends wherever he went, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, conversation, and connection.

Stevie also had a lifelong need for speed—he never met a fast car he didn’t like. From the streets of Hillsboro to the Goddard dirt track (where he was known as Fireball Call), his love of racing was well-known and brought him joy throughout the years.

Stevie will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His spirit, his stories, and his genuine love for people will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to call him family and friend.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Hutton Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Grimes and Brother Gerald Saunders officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers:  Waverly Henson, Mike Honaker, Josh Patton, Danny Doyle, Gary Jolly, and Tim Vise.  Honorary Pallbearers:  Katie Jolly, Sherry Doyle, Ricky Lewis, Anthony Vise, and Gerald Saunders.
