Sherry Ann Mullins Highley, age 57, of South Lane, Morehead, was born November 14, 1962, in Pikeville, Kentucky, and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at her home.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Ronald Highley, whom she married December 16, 2016; her devoted parents, Carl K. and Ruby Gail Mullins of Morehead; one son, Joseph S. Keller (Nikki) of Morehead; one daughter, Sarah Gail Keller Wallace (Doug) of West Liberty; seven grandchildren, Katie Perkins, Tyler Perkins, Aubrey Wallace, Jaxon Keller, JoJo Keller, Ceci Palacios, Kamron Palacios; one sister, Melissa Lee Mullins Michael (Phillip) of Savannah, Georgia; and one nephew, Taylor Kelly Noble.
Sherry was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Judge and Beulah Lee Mullins; paternal grandparents, King S. and Lucy Jane Mullins; and one nephew, T. J. Bailey.
At age 12, Sherry started helping her Mom and Dad in their grocery store in Memphis, Tennessee. The family moved to Morehead in 1980 and Sherry graduated from Rowan County Senior High School in 1981. She obtained her real estate license, sold real estate for many years, and also assisted her parents in the operation of Mullins Bestway Foods on West Main in Morehead from 1980 to 2000.
Sherry enjoyed fishing with her father, loved making crafts at home and recently took up gardening, with help from her father, who lived near her. She also loved photography and perhaps her greatest passion was cooking and watching all kinds of food shows on television.
Sherry had a genuine ability to make others feel special. With her gentle and kind heart and generous spirit, she made sure everyone she loved was cared for. She adored her family and was a fiercely loyal and protective daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and wife. Sherry loved life despite her struggles and always kept a strong faith in Christ. She would always say, “I love you and I love love.”
Sherry would want us to be kind to each other, to live each day fully and without regret, and to have gratitude for the precious moments we share. She will be lovingly remembered and will remain in our hearts forever.
At Sherry’s request, services at the funeral home and burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens will be private with the Rev. Lowell Rice officiating. Pallbearers: Tyler, Josh, and Jason Perkins, Kamron Palacios, Taylor Noble, and Eric Stevens.
