Shelba Spradlin Chatt, age 82, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021, at her home.
Born July 28, 1939, in McCreary County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Willard Spradlin and Irene Cordell Spradlin. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Erma Powell; two brothers, James “J. B.” Spradlin and Wayne Spradlin; one son, Kim Winchester; and the love of her life and longtime companion, Herbert Ray Ferguson, who passed away August 25, 2007.
Shelba is survived by one daughter, Lorna Winchester, and two sons, Kent Winchester and Jack D. Winchester II, all of Ohio; eight grandchildren, including special grandson, Adam Anderson of Martinsville, Indiana; and several great grandchildren, including Avery Anderson of Martinsville, Indiana; one sister, Wanda Raines of Crystal River, Florida; two brothers, Cleston “Clay” Spradlin of Eubank, Kentucky, and Wendell Ray Spradlin of Richmond, Kentucky; a special friend, Teresa Searcy of Dayton, Ohio; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
In addition to being a homemaker, Shelba, in her younger years, was an excellent seamstress who made many of her own clothes and enjoyed embroidering. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, especially baking. Later in life, her primary pastime was watching television. She will be greatly missed.
Graveside services and interment will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Brown Cemetery with the Rev. Jeremy Halstead officiating.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
