Sharlene “Shirley” Crum Preston, age 82, of South Main, Versailles, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020, at The Willows at Citation in Lexington.
Born September 22, 1937, in Haldeman, she was the daughter of the late Lee Crum and Mabel Sturgill Crum Elks. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Glen Preston, Jr., on July 9, 2008; one son, Christopher Clay Preston on March 14, 2013; and one sister, Judith Ann Caito.
Shirley is survived by two sons, James Glenn Preston III of Richmond and Jamie Peyton Preston of Lexington; one daughter and son-in-law, Lee Ann Preston Sheehy and Rick Sheehy of Versailles; five grandchildren, Carrie Caudill, Dawn Smith, Michelle Preston, Bill Sheehy, and Annie Sheehy; and three great grandchildren, Dakota and Kaitlyn Smith, and Aiden Caudill.
Other survivors include one brother, Lawrence Lee “Butch” Crum and wife Jenny of Morehead; one sister, Bonnie Jean Pack of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind the caregivers at The Willows at Citation who faithfully nurtured and cared for her.
Shirley was a homemaker and former manager of the Dairy Queen in Winchester. She was a member of the Baptist Church and enjoyed flower gardening, reading, and spending time with family. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Private visitation will be Tuesday, July14, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum.
