Sanford Douglas Bradley, Sr., age 92, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
He was born October 5, 1929, in Rowan County, to the late Thomas and Ethel McKee Bradley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, George, Marvin, Roscoe, Milford, Jessie, Ora, Gail, and Lodis Bradley, and three sisters, Parma Lee Campbell, Joyce Brunson, and infant sister, Tiny Mae Bradley.
Sanford is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce Faye Riddle Bradley, whom he married May 20, 1960; three sons, Sanford “Doug” (Theresa) Bradley, Jr., Allen K. (Tammy) Bradley, and Michael (Belinda) Bradley, all of Morehead; four grandchildren, Sara (Matt) Wells, Kyle (Sarah) Bradley, Samantha Bradley, and Emily Bradley; and three great grandchildren, Nate Wells, Ava Bradley, and Lily Bradley.
Other survivors include one brother, Elmo Bradley of Vanceburg; one sister, Katherine Decker of Granger, Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Sanford proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the owner and president of B & W Pallet Co. and co-owner and manager of Fleming Wood Products. He retired from the lumber business in 1990. Sanford was of the Christian faith and enjoyed going to church, reading his Bible, and watching church programs on TV. He enjoyed working on his farms with his family and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He got much pleasure from watching videos of his grand and great grandchildren on his computer. Sanford was a devoted husband, father, and papaw, who will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Hinton and Pastor Larry Compton officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
