Sandra Sue "Sandy" (Vance) Reed

Sandra Sue “Sandy” Vance Reed, age 75, of Bull Fork Road, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.

She was born April 20, 1947, at Vance Fork in Morgan County, and was a daughter of the late Elijah and Geneva Cole Vance.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Lindsay Reed; three sisters, Edna Mae Vance Lewis, Vear Francis, and Esta Faye Vance; five brothers, Rex Vance, Forrest Ray Vance, Bobby Vance, Clyde Vance, and Tony Vance; and mother-in-law, Lutie Harper Reed.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Kash Reed, whom she married December 28, 1968; a daughter, Tara Reed Perkins of Morehead; a beloved grandson, Mason Kash Shooter Perkins; brother-in-law, James Reed and wife Lula of Salyersville; special niece, Pamela Lewis Bailey and husband Lee of Columbia, Tennessee; special friend, Crystal Porter Black and her children L’Shae and Tanner, all of Morehead; and a of host nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Morgan County High School in 1966 and attended Ashland Community College where she received her surgical technician certification. Sandy began her career at St. Claire Medical Center in 1972 as a certified operating room technician where she worked for 33 years until she retired in 2005. After retirement, to occupy some her spare time, she worked at Fashion Bug and Bath Medical Transportation.

Sandy’s greatest joy was caring for her grandson Shooter. She enjoyed taking him to and from school and always looked forward to their Friday evening dinners together. Sandy stayed busy with everyday projects, cooking and cleaning and loved caring for her flowers, reading, and shopping.  She kept Kash busy taking her to the mall in Lexington.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James DeAtley officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers:  Garland Earley, Michael Vance, Steven Vance, Ron “Tiger” Porter, Tanner Black and Jim Stephens.  Honorary pallbearers:  Billy Ray Black and Mason Kash Shooter Perkins.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
