Obituary

Ruth Watson Gibson, age 89, of Woodlock Drive, Morehead, formerly of Magoffin County, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Windsor Care Center in Mt. Sterling.

 

Born August 18, 1931, in Magoffin County, she was a daughter of the late Turner and Mint Reed Watson.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gibson; one son, Darrel Ray Gibson; one daughter, Karen June Witter; one stepdaughter, Donna Mathias; six brothers, Russell, Donald, Edward, Clayton, Oran, and Buford Watson; and two sisters, Nola Crace and Ruie Reed.

 

She is survived by one son, Barry Gibson and wife Carolyn of Morehead; one stepson, James Morris Gibson of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren. 

 

Ruth enjoyed sewing, gardening, quilting, canning, going to church and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.  She was of the Apostolic faith and will be greatly missed.

 

Visitation will be Monday, October 19, 2020, at Solid Rock Apostolic Church (7500 US Hwy 60 West, Morehead, KY 40351) from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.  A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday with Pastor Daniel Carter officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
