Roy Strange, age 83, of KY Highway 213, Jeffersonville, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at his residence due to injuries sustained in a tractor accident.
Born September 22, 1936, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Sterling and Ida Belle Martin Strange. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Strange and Roy Strange, Jr.; three brothers, Herman Strange, Herbert Strange, and Ronnie Strange; and four sisters, Eunice Mangold, Darlene Brown, Linda Lou Strange, and Deloris “Faye” Grey-Donathan.
Roy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geneva Donathan Strange, whom he married July 23, 1955; one son, Gerald (Joyce) Strange of Jeffersonville; two daughters, Pam (Alfred) Martin of Jeffersonville, and Patricia (Paul) White of Means; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson.
Other survivors include one brother, Hubert (Margie) Strange; one sister, Bernice (Raymond) Martin, all of Mt. Sterling; one daughter-in-law, Pam Strange; several nieces and nephews; extended family members; and many friends, including special friend, Darrell Esteppe.
He was a lifelong farmer, logger and sawmill owner and operator. Roy was also a heavy equipment operator and former employee of Walker Construction and Hinkle Construction.
Due to the COVID-19 regulations set forth by the Governor, a private family graveside service and burial will be held at Martin & Willoughby Cemetery in Jeffersonville on Friday, April 24, 2020, with David Campbell officiating.
