February 23, 1948 ~ November 5, 2023 (age 75) 75 Years Old
Ronald Edwin “Ron” Swartz, age 75, of Oak Grove Road, Morehead, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born February 23, 1948, in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Rollie Swartz and Louise Griggs Swartz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Burton Swartz.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jewell Kidd Swartz, whom he married April 16, 1988; two sons, Eric Swartz and wife Carol of Russell Springs and Tim Swartz of Salt Lick; one step son, Gordon Johnson of Morehead; one sister, Sheila Price and husband Don of Mt. Sterling; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a niece, Becky Everman; and other extended family and friends.
Ron was a retired heavy equipment operator for 32 years and member of Teamsters and Operators Union, and was a former employee of Tim Short Auto Group in Morehead. He was currently an employee of Eagle Chevrolet in Morehead. He was a member of Slab Camp Christian Church and was saved in 2005.
He enjoyed woodworking and was known to build nice birdhouses, hunting, fishing, flower gardening, and loved to travel and drive. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Brother Charles Moore and Pastor Greg Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Crix Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Haydon Swartz, Tanner Swartz, Justin Johnson, Gene Johnson, Lenny Crouch, and Brad Frizzell. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Johnson, Anthony Bell, and James Gray.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
