Roger Gray, age 86, of Gray Ridge, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at the V. A. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born July 10, 1934, in Sandy Hook, he was a son of the late Virgil and Ina Howard Gray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Purdy and Dixie Gray, and four brothers, Edward, Clyde, Lonnie, and Autie Binion.
Roger is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carol Ann Parramore Gray, whom he married December 17, 1954; two sons, Michael T. Gray and James W. (Eulah) Gray, all of Morehead; one daughter, Teresa Ann Gray of Dayton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jeana Gray, Pamela Gray, Shawn Gray, Andy Berry, Katie Lehmann, and Sarah Berry (Vong); and four great grandchildren, Caroline Berry, Jack Lehmann, Kyler Berry, and Everleigh Berry.
Other survivors include one brother, Denzil (Terry) Gray of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Margie Brickey of Xenia, Ohio, and Pauline Fannin of Shelbyville, Tennessee; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; and his special dog, Molly.
Roger was a proud U.S. Marine Corps Korean War veteran. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. He was employed at NCR Company, Rikes Department Store, and retired from Dayton Stamping, all in Dayton, Ohio. He also owned and operated Gray Glass Company for a number of years. Roger was a member of the Apostolic Tabernacle of Jesus Christ in Elliottville.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Arnold Ison and Brother Clyde Mays, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers: Jack Lehmann, Katie Lehmann, Andy Berry, Vong VanMany, Elmer Binion, and James Gray.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
