Rodney H. McKenzie, 86, of Anderson, IN, passed away August 19, 2021, at his home. He was born on June 28, 1935, in Farmers, KY, to John and Estelle McKenzie.
Rodney served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from Delco-Remy after 36 years of service.
Rodney was an avid runner, taking up the sport of running when he was almost 45 years old, and ran two marathons. He was an active member of Madison Park Church of God and enjoyed going to church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Rodney E. McKenzie; his granddaughter, Erin L. McKenzie; his great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Hughes; and his siblings, Guy McKenzie, John McKenzie, Charles "Nook" McKenzie, Horace "Doug" McKenzie, Earl McKenzie, Avis McKenzie, and Delores "Ann" McKenzie.
Rodney is survived by his children, Cary McKenzie, Anderson, IN, and his daughter, Angela McKenzie, Fortville, IN; his grandchildren, Ann McKenzie Weigand, Amanda McKenzie, Andrew McKenzie, Christopher Ellerman, Amy Ellerman, Nicholas Carnes, Patrick McKenzie, Ashley McKenzie, and Austin McKenzie; his great-grandchildren, Julia Hughes, Cherish Hughes, Desiray McKenzie, William Wilson, Jasmine Thomason, Seth McKenzie, Isaiah Ellerman, Alyssa Ellerman, Abigail Ellerman, Lurelle Beeman, Lillian Beeman, I'Leigha McKenzie, Isaac McKenzie, and Aleeseeia McKenzie; his brother, Paul "Ed" McKenzie, Morehead, KY; his special friend, Linda Himes; and many more extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021, from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson, IN.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at Midland First Church of God, 11479 East Highway 60, Salt Lick, KY, with visitation at the church from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery with military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
