Robert S. Littlepage, Sr. Obituary

Robert S. (Bob) Littlepage, Sr., passed away suddenly on December 21, 2021 at his home in Morehead.  He was 83.

Born in Baltimore on March 12, 1938, he was the son of the late Russell S. Littlepage and Mary Frances Mulkay Noeth.

Bob attended Loyola High School in Baltimore.  He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Loyola University Baltimore, and a Master’s Degree in Physics from Johns Hopkins University.  A lifelong learner, Bob was proudly pursuing a Master’s Degree in Astronomy from Morehead State University (MSU) while in his 80’s.

Bob’s professional career spanned 50 years and included teaching positions at the University of Maryland and MSU.  He did government contract work for Westinghouse Electric Corporation and Northrop Grumman for many years.  His accomplishments include starting two businesses and publishing 35 major technical papers and numerous patent disclosures.

When not working, taking classes, or updating his physics blog with longtime friend and co-author Jeff Furnish, Bob enjoyed reading, photography, fishing and target shooting.  He also enjoyed planning and taking annual trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather Thomas Noeth.

Bob is survived by children Kathy Souders (Mike), Robert Littlepage Jr. (Rebecca), David Littlepage (Lynda), and grandchildren Tim Souders, Alex Littlepage, Maura Souders, Kevin Souders, Jessica Littlepage, Jane Littlepage, and Rebecca Souders.  He is also survived by his sister Mary Frances Littlepage Colburn of Kennebunk ME.  Bob had previous marriages to Kathleen Kennedy Littlepage and Diane Martin Raymond.
