Riley McCleese Jent, age 86, of Spruce Lane, Salt Lick, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Ridgeway Nursing and Rehab in Owingsville.
Born October 18, 1933, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Jent and Mary Ann Hardin Jent. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Kathy Lynn Jent; one sister, Rosie Netherly; and three brothers, Ervin, Charlie, and Ted Jent.
Riley is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Marie Poston Jent; one daughter, Mary Kathryn Lykes and husband Jeff of Salt Lick; one son, Barry Jent and wife Melissa of Ashland; five grandchildren, Alisha Hanshel and husband Brad, Todd Lykes and wife Jessica, Lauren Fannin, Regan Jent, and Drew Fannin; two great grandchildren, Kelli Grace Lykes and Kaden Lykes; one sister, Linda Kelly of Owingsville, as well as extended family, including his church family, and friends.
Riley retired from Hobart Corp. (where he was known as “Smiley Riley”) after 24 years of service. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and caring for their needs. He enjoyed joking with family and friends, farming, gardening, and helping others. A long-time member of Midland Church of God, he was a former member of the board, custodian, and youth leader. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
Funeral services will be conduced 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at Midland First Church of God with Pastor Bush Stevenson and Brother James Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Jones Cemetery in Midland.
Pallbearers: Jeff Todd, Kaden Lykes, Drew Fannin, Monty Jent, Bruce Davis, Rob Rice.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2020, and after 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at Midland First Church of God, 11479 E. Hwy. 60, Salt Lick, KY 40371.
