Raymond Hubert “Ray” Kegley, age 58, of Oak Grove Road, Morehead, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022, at his residence.
Born September 12, 1963, he was the son of the late Chester Dee Kegley and Eva Mae Turner Owens Kegley. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Larry Jr. Kegley, Billy Owens, Kenneth Eugene “Joe” Owens, Lawerence Edward Kegley, Donald Ray Kegley, and a sister, Diana Kegley.
He is survived by one son, Derek (Megan) Mays of Morehead; four brothers, Ervin (P. K.) Kegley of Morehead, Terry (Tessa) Owens of Morehead, Tony (Jan) Kegley of West Liberty, and Mike Owens; three sisters, Sharon (Kirby) Kegley Faucett of Clarksville, Tennessee, Marsha (Terry) Nawman of Marysville, Ohio, and Jeanetta Kay Chapman of Springfield, Ohio, as well as a host of nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
Ray was a 1981 graduate of Rowan County High School and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a truck driver and a former mechanic who thoroughly enjoyed working on cars.
A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Kegley-Nickell Cemetery on McGlone-Hitch Road with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers: Derek Mays, Ervin Kegley, Sr., Ervin Kegley, Jr., Jason Rose, Curtis Kegley, and Terry Owens.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Ray be made to Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals to assist with funeral expenses.
