Rachel Pauline Roberts Arthurs, age 78, of Fort Payne, Alabama, formerly of Soldier, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 17, 2025, at her residence.
Born May 14, 1948, in West Liberty, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Hathaway Roberts and Leona Noble Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Roscoe Arthurs, on December 8, 2004, as well as several brothers and sisters.
Rachel is survived by her three children, Carl Hathaway Roscoe Arthurs of Clay City, Kentucky, Dorothy Eileen Gorman of Mississippi, and Lisa Carol Thornberry (Ray) of Fort Payne, Alabama; three brothers, Jessie Roberts and Kerry Roberts, both of West Liberty, Kentucky, and David Roberts of Henderson, North Carolina; and one sister, Mary Roberts of West Liberty, Kentucky. She leaves behind several precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Rachel retired from the Scott County Board of Education after 21 dedicated years as a custodian. She enjoyed thrifting and was always on the lookout for a good bargain. Most of all, she cherished her family, and her loving presence will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in Bradley Cemetery on Dry Branch in Soldier, Kentucky.
Pallbearers include Dustin Goodwin, Terry Goodwin, Jason Thornberry, Ray Thornberry, Carl Arthurs, Jr., Raymond Arthurs, and Jerid Carter.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
