Pauline Kissick Brown, 90, of Morehead, KY passed away on May 3, 2023, after a brief illness.
Pauline was born on November 11, 1932, in Fleming County, KY. She was the daughter of Margaret Sorrell Kissick and Omar Henry Kissick. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Catherine Jackson (Paris), Viola Powers (Tom) and Marie Strong (Bill), and her beloved son Paul Kent James.
Surviving Pauline is her husband, Omer Brown of Morehead, KY; sister Joan Moser (Tom now deceased) of Stanford, KY; son Tim James (Lisa) of Morehead, Kentucky; grandson Joshua James (Melody); and great granddaughter, Peyton James, of South El Monte, CA. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces all of whom love her dearly. She had a special friendship with her niece Deborah McBrayer.
Pauline was an employee at US Bank (formerly People’s Bank) for over 30 years. She also worked at Allen’s IGA for many years. Pauline made lifelong friends with her co-workers of all ages.
Pauline and Omer were married in 2007 and shared 16 years together. Omer will miss her deeply. He always rose to the occasion to escort Pauline to luncheons, hairdresser appointments, church, and visits with friends. She, in turn, cared for his every want and need.
Pauline loved her friends and family. Defying typical stereotypes, she was the perfect mother-in-law. Pauline was generous with her time and the many gifts she bestowed. She often ordered the “wrong size” clothing that just happened to perfectly fit her intended recipient.
To those who knew her well, Pauline’s gentle and soft-spoken demeanor hid a strong, determined, and sometimes very stubborn soul. (Although she might take exception to this last part!)
She was delighted at the birth of her great granddaughter, Peyton, who turns two this year. Pauline cherished her visits with Peyton and beamed with joy at every photo she received. Pauline will be remembered as a loyal friend, steadfast wife, and loving mother. She will be missed by all.
Pauline was born a great beauty and was beautiful until the day she left this earth. At her request, the coffin will remain closed.
The service will be conducted at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals by her nephew Reverend Dr. Mike Powers with the obituary read by Reverend Jack Hinton. Visitation is Sunday, May 7, 2023, from 12:00 – 12:30 p.m. for the family and 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. for friends. The service will follow the visitation. Pauline will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
Pallbearers will be Scott Barker, Brian Brown, Phil Brown, Tim Brown, Mike Curtis, Freddie James. Honorary Pallbearers will be Travis Beamon, Randy Brown, Joe Jackson, Paris Jackson, Jr., Joshua James.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Claire Foundation (for St. Claire Hospice), 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351 or to Disabled American Veterans at dav.org
