Paul "Mike" Michael Armstrong

Paul Michael “Mike” Armstrong, age 70, of Morehead, passed away June 14, 2021, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center. He was born July 12, 1950, in Middletown, Ohio, the oldest son of the late Leslie Paul “Pete” and Audrey Evans Armstrong, who survives.

Mike will be missed by his loving family: one daughter, Leslie Michelle (Terry) Gray, and one son, Michael Shawn Armstrong, both of Morehead; three grandsons, Austin Douglas (Katelin) Wright of Ewing, Dustin Michael Wright and Colten Michael Armstrong, all of Morehead; two granddaughters, Audrey Emiline Armstrong and Cadyn Faith Armstrong, both of Morehead; and one great grandson, Tucker Layne Wright. One brother, Thomas (Deborah) Armstrong of Lexington, also survives.

Mike graduated from Rowan County High School in 1968. He was a proud veteran of the United States National Guard. He served more than six years. He also served on the Republican Committee in Rowan County for 50 years. He helped run Armstrong grocery and trailer park. He also worked at Summit Polymers and Gordon's Chip.

Mike had a heart of gold. Nobody was a stranger to him, and would help those in need. Mike enjoyed gardening and never passed up a yard sale. One of his greatest joys was collecting. His basement was like a second house. From faux flowers to stamps to even little plushies that went off shelves years ago, you’d always find something of the strange yet fascinating variety down there.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Hamm officiating.  Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Pallbearers will be Austin Wright, Dustin Wright, Colten Armstrong, Audrey Armstrong, Cadyn Armstrong, and Jerry Flannery. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Skaggs, Doug Morgan, Rick Armstrong, Stefan Armstrong, Butch Armstrong, Davis Thomas, and Ricky Lewis.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
