Patricia Sue (Johnson) Cox

Patricia Sue Johnson Cox, age 83, of North Tolliver Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead. 

Patty was born December 28, 1938, in Logan County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late James Thomas Johnson and Samantha Jane Holbrook Johnson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Junior Johnson, Johnny Johnson and Bernard Johnson; and five sisters, Lois Watson, Treda Day, Hildred “Nootsie” Johnson, Janie Collins, and Betty Wages.

Her husband of nearly 50 years, Paul Wilburn Cox, Sr., whom she wed on July 25, 1958, preceded her in death on July 26, 2006.

Patty is survived by one son, Paul Wilburn Cox, Jr., of Clearfield; one daughter, Joyce “J.J.” Cox Damron of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren, Randy Damron, Christy Prather-Forrest, Danielle Cox, Alexandra Cox, and Will Cox; three great grandchildren, Gabriel Forrest, Logan Hatton and Jayden Hatton; several nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. 

Patty owned and managed several rental properties and was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God where she loved to play the guitar and sing.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Fannin and Pastor Cecil Ison officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay Cemetery, KY 955, in Carter County.

Pallbearers will be Will Cox, John Gibson, Jamie Gibson, James Forrest, Gabriel Forrest, and Charlie Henderson.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
