Pastor Jack Tackett, age 70, of Morehead, was born November 6, 1950, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and went to meet his Lord and Savior on the Lord’s Day, Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 10:26 p.m.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Elijah and Nellie Tackett, and one granddaughter, Abigail Tackett.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane Tackett, and his three daughters, Jennifer Maples and husband Lester, Jackie Tackett, Teresa Jefferson, and one son, Jason Tackett and his wife Holly. He is currently survived by 10 grandchildren: Nykalea Tackett, Lincoln Jefferson, Colton Maples, Savannah Jefferson, Andrew Tackett, Annalese Jefferson, Philip Tackett, Cody Maples, Tyion Alderman, and Eli Tackett. He is further survived by three siblings: William Donald Tackett, Phyllis Childress and husband Jim, and Chris Tackett and wife Margaret. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his church family from Bible Baptist Church where he served faithfully for 43 years, which 31 years were as pastor.
He was saved at the age of 11 under the ministry of Reverend Bruce Woodruff of Bible Baptist Church of Summerside, Ohio. He served our country with honor as a U.S. Marine Recon during the Vietnam War. After the war, he surrendered to serve the Lord in full-time ministry. He went to Bible college at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He worked tirelessly as a bus driver for the Rowan County schools where he supported his family faithfully and retired after 29 years. He loved gardening and nature walks to commune with the Lord. He also loved spending time playing games with family.
His life was a demonstration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in which he alone trusted as he gave himself wholly and faithfully for his wife, children, and church family.
His life will be honored with a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Childress and Pastor Raymond Bell officiating.
Burial will follow at Caudill Cemetery, Old Sportsman Road, Morehead, with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Pallbearers: Jason Tackett, Ken James, Thomas Kara, Lincoln Jefferson, Colton Maples, Cody Maples, Andrew Tackett, and Philip Tackett. Honorary Pallbearers: Tyion Alderman and Eli Tackett.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021, at Bible Baptist Church, 1225 Hallwood Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
