Orville Slone, age 92, of CCC Trail, Morehead, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020, at his residence.
He was born September 19, 1927, in Rowan County, a son of the late James Britton (Britt) Slone and Rachel Fultz Slone. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Dewey, Jack, Lee, and John Henry Slone; two sisters, Lola Slone Tracy and Dovie Elam; and one grandson, Neil Lewis.
His wife of 62 years, Wilda E. Debord Slone, whom he married March 14, 1949, preceded him in death on November 11, 2011.
Orville is survived by three daughters, Barbara Wilson, Judy Slone, and Diana Blanton, all of Morehead; one sister, Mary Dillon of Clearfield; four grandchildren, Mary Ann McIntosh, Jason Lewis, Mark Anthony McBrayer, and Lynsey Cantrell; five great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a lifelong farmer and had worked at Lee Clay Products Company, Rowan Motor Sales, Don McKenzie Ford, and Spring Grove Dairy as a mechanic. Orville was great storyteller and loved sharing his stories. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, crops, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Mike Vice officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Charlie Winkleman, Jack Vice, C. J. Vice, James Alfrey, James Bowling, and Garrett Lowe. Honorary pallbearers: Aubrey Kautz, Jr., Troy Perkins, and Clifford Porter.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351
