Norma Lee Johnson Charles, age 93, of Spring Hollow Road, Salt Lick, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022, at Ridgeway Manor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Owingsville.
Born August 14, 1928, in Bath County, she was a daughter of the late Martin Johnson and Ella Pearl Armstrong Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings: three brothers, Ralph Johnson, Hansford Johnson, and Ronnie Johnson, and two sisters, Avonia Crouch and Nell McKenzie.
Also, her devoted husband of 63 years, Richard Charles, whom she wed April 11, 1947, preceded her in death on October 11, 2010; one son, Michael Wayne Charles; one granddaughter, Samantha Charles; and one great grandson, Mark Richard Barlow, Jr.
Mrs. Charles is survived one daughter, Judith Ann Peace (Larry) of Richmond, Virginia; one son, Rickie Lee Charles (Alberta) of Salt Lick; seven grandchildren, Lori Barlow, Brian Charles, Dr. Michelle Peace-Barry, Kevin Scott Peace, Joshua David Charles, who was raised by his grandparents, Jessica Elizabeth Charles, and Zachary Sean Charles; five great grandchildren, Scott Michael Barlow, Matthew Charles Barlow, Caleb Charles, Gabriel Carmack and Winter Charles; and one great-great grandson, Michael James Barlow.
Other survivors include two sisters, Opal Jones of Mt. Sterling and Barbara Armstrong of Morehead; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other dear family members.
Mrs. Charles was loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a friend to all. She was a devoted member of the Salt Lick First Church of God. She will be greatly missed and remembered with love.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Vernon Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
