Noemie Marie DeRouen, 95, passed away on June 29, 2020, at her home in Morehead, Kentucky.
Born in Reserve, Louisiana, to her father Suly and her mother Noemie Horn DeRouen. Noemie M DeRouen lived and worked in Baton Rouge at the State Library of Louisiana as Head of the Division for the Blind and Physically Handicapped for over 45 years.
Ms. DeRouen was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University with degrees in Sociology and Psychology. She received her Master’s Degree in Library Science from Louisiana State University. She was a member of the Louisiana Library Association, American Library Association, Association of University Women, American Business Women’s Association, Beta Phi Mu, and Capital City Council for the Blind.
Noemie moved to Morehead to live with her sister where they travelled, adopted dogs, and grew a beautiful flower garden. Noemie will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, her loving heart and her Catholic faith.
Noemie was preceded in death by her parents, Suly and Noemie DeRouen. Noemie is survived by her sister, a niece and a nephew, two great nieces and a great nephew, and several great-great nephews.
Cremation was preferred and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
