Mose Stamper, age 83, of Morehead, passed away September 21, 2022, at St. Claire Healthcare in Morehead following an extended illness.
He was born March 26, 1939, in Sandy Hook, and was a son of the late Ben and Edna Burton Stamper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Hardnack, Helen Rawlins, and Faye Tuel, and two brothers, Bennie Stamper and Tommy Stamper.
Mose’s only child, James Stamper, passed away on November 8, 2021.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Pauline Stevens “Polly” Stamper; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Stamper; a special granddaughter, Emma Stamper, all of Morehead; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mose was a respected businessman in Rowan County and surrounding counties. He enjoyed long Sunday drives and flea marketing with his wife Polly. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed feeding his pet squirrels, chipmunks, and turkeys on the farm. He was known for a kind demeaner and impeccable skills. He never met a stranger and within minutes of meeting anyone he would know their name and where they were from.
Nothing brought more joy to his life than being “Paw” to Emma. She was the love of his life from the day she was born. Mose was greatly loved and will be missed by many.
