Michael J. Thomas

Michael J. Thomas, age 78, of Morehead, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 27, 2025, at UK Medical Center in Lexington.

Born March 19, 1947, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Arthur Thomas and Stella Williams Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Phyllis Thornsberry, Bertella Taylor, Helen Eldridge, and Loretta Dillon, and four brothers, Charles Thomas, Ray Thomas, Leroy Thomas, and Ival A. Thomas.

Michael is survived by two children, Shonda Thomas and Shane Thomas; two sisters, Noreen Tackett of Missouri and Alfredia Markwell of Morehead; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A lifelong farmer, Michael also worked for at Hinton Feed Mill in Ewing. He enjoyed coon hunting, horseback riding, and spending time outdoors.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Thomas Cemetery on Open Fork Road with Brother Don Hall officiating.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
