Michael Ralph Rigdon, age 53, of Monticello Drive, Morehead, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 11, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born September 9, 1967, in Xenia, Ohio, Michael is the son of Marion Ralph Rigdon of Hillsboro and the late Jerrie Sue Adams Ridgon, who passed away November 10, 2016. A nephew, Brady Fraley, also preceded him in death.
In addition to his father, Michael is survived by his wife, Tracy Lynn Henderson Rigdon, whom he married May 16, 2009; one son, Ryan Rigdon of Florida; three sisters, Marilyn Rigdon of Hillsboro, Melissa Carter and Jeff of Paris, and Melinda Traywick and Brian of Jasper, Florida; as well as extended family including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and his church family.
Michael was a former heavy equipment operator for C. J. Hughes Contractor in Huntington, West Virginia, and a farmer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known as a hard worker and a very determined person. An active member of Sharkey Baptist Church, he loved attending services and rarely missed, even during his 3 ½ year battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Sharkey Baptist Church with Pastor Harley Sexton, Jr., Pastor Elijah Sexton, and Brother Ben Lewis officiating. For those who prefer to participate virtually, the service will be live streamed at Sharkey Baptist Church Facebook page and Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Facebook page beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Newman Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Bill Opell, Kevin Opell, Chad Opell, Clarence Frasure, David Black, and Eric Henderson.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Sharkey Baptist Church, 2555 Sharkey Road, Morehead, KY 40351.
