Maxine Jones Baggett, age 96, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the home of her great granddaughter and caregiver, Ashley Durham, after an extended illness.
Born November 22, 1925, in Morehead, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Daisy Adams Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Tressa Stamper; two brothers, Billy Roger “Buck” Jones and Howard “Blackie” Jones, Jr.; a special granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Richardson; and one half-sister, Lenora Ackley.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Karen “Penny” Garner of Richmond; one brother, Grover Cleveland “Bobby” Jones (Rosanna) of Mt. Sterling; eight grandchildren, Tracey Weaver (Billy) of Alabama, Ralph Charles (Becca) of Mt. Sterling, Terry Wayne Charles (Jamie) of Robbinsville, North Carolina, Jaime Garner and Shannon Garner, both of Richmond, John Moseley (Pam) of Shelbyville, Tami Weis (Tony) of Napoleon, Ohio, and Jamie Stamper (Amy) of Morehead; 15 great grandchildren, Ashley Durham (Jesse Landrum), Lindsay Morgan (Sean), Kristen James (Johnny), Darrin Pingleton, Emaleigh Ramsey, Jaycee Howell, Trae Moseley (Katie), Jordan Moseley, Alexa Weaver, Blake and Lakyn Weaver, Krista Bealert, Cameron Charles, Justin and Bryce Charles; eight great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Danny Stamper of Morehead; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family survive.
Maxine was a retired certified nursing assistant (CNA) for more than 30 years at Cave Run Clinic and a homemaker. Her greatest joy, however, was loving and spending time with her grandchildren whose lives were greatly influenced by their Granny. She will always be remembered with love.
The family extends special thanks to the Landrum family, who provided loving care and support to Maxine through her illness.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ben Furman officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Sean Morgan, Johnny Eldridge, Jesse Landrum, Billy Weaver, Darrin Pingleton, Ralph Charles, Terry Charles, and Joe White.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
