Matthew "Matt" Scott Coursin

Matthew “Matt” Scott Coursin, age 47, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.

He was born March 2, 1976, in East Liverpool, Ohio, and is the son of Kaye Cale Easter of Oxford, Mississippi, and the late Russell Easter.

Besides his mother, Matt is survived by his wife, Sarah Laken Mathews whom he married May 2, 2020; one son, Johnathan Coursin of Morehead; four daughters, Raven Coursin and Lavender Coursin, both of Olive Hill, and twins Madelyn and Macee Coursin of Morehead; two grandchildren, Jensen and Paislee and expecting another granddaughter this month.

Also surviving are two brothers, Marcus Coursin of Morehead and Jason Easter of Huntington, West Virginia; one sister, Norah Erwin of Olive Hill; and other extended family and friends.

Matt was the owner of Coursin Construction Company. He loved riding his motorcycle, working construction, and especially being a good father to his children. Matt will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Judia “Tol” Barker and one brother, Sean (Chavez) Fischer.

A celebration of life will be held a later date.
