Mary Elizabeth Kilgore Kelsey, age 72, of Eddington Branch Spur, Vanceburg, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022, at her residence.
She was born July 16, 1950, in Lewis County, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Parthena Logan Kilgore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Wade Kelsey on October 3, 2017; three brothers, Otha Kilgore, Virgil Kilgore, and Kermit Kilgore; one sister, Wilma Mae Mabry; and a grandson-in-law, Michael Surface.
Mrs. Kelsey is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ernie Kelsey; two sons, Jake Kelsey (Cheryl) of Olive Hill and Wayne Kelsey (Angela) of Morehead; one daughter, Shirl Blair (Anthony) of West Liberty; five grandchildren, Crystal Surface-Parks (Andy), Chris Kelsey (Michaela), Bobby Joe “BJ” Branham (Stacey), Leeann Butler (Travis), and Cameron Joseph “CJ” Branham (Kari); and four great grandchildren, Travin Butler, Caidin Kelsey, Tyler Branham, and Jude Clark.
Other survivors include three brothers, Joe Kilgore (Vicky)and Troy Kilgore (Patty), all of Lewis County, and Vernon Kilgore (Wanda) of Carter County; two sisters, Wanda Wagoner (Butch) and Debra Enix (Trent), all of Carter County; several nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
Mrs. Kelsey was a homemaker and former employee of Holiday Inn and Life Care Center. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and especially spending time with family. She was of the Christian Faith.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe “BJ” Branham, Cameron Joseph “CJ” Branham, Christopher Kelsey, Caidin Kelsey, Michael Logan, and Anthony Blair.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
