Mary Elizabeth (Stevens) Howard

Mary Elizabeth Stevens Howard, age 81, Christy Creek Road, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born September 5, 1941, in Sandy Hook, she was a daughter of the late Seymour Stevens and Armie Ison Stevens.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Henry Stevens, and five sisters, Thelma Carter, Evelyn Carter, Lorene Rice, Kathleen Howard, and Lena Williams.

Her husband of 59 years, James A. “Jim” Howard, whom she married September 27, 1958, preceded her in death on September 2, 2018.

Mary is survived by her son, Jimmy Howard; two grandchildren, Boone and Scout Howard, all of Morehead; two brothers, Leroy Stevens and Talmadge Stevens, both of Sandy Hook; one sister, Linda Hill of Fairborn, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Elliottville Baptist Church. Mary enjoyed attending church, cooking, cleaning, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Friday, October 21, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Willie Sturgill officiating.  Burial will follow in Stevens Family Cemetery on Sheepskin Road, Sandy Hook, KY 41171.

Pallbearers:  Boone Howard, Anthony Stevens, Greg Stevens, Barry Stevens, Chris Howard, Tom Carroll, and Shannon Hill.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Friday, October 21, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
