Margaret “Margie” Messer May, age 78, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at the Gardens of Providence in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.
Born November 17, 1941, in Morehead, she was a daughter of the late Joseph “Joe” Messer and Dorothy Mae Hill Messer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Maze and Mary Lou Omohundro; her husband, William Lewis “Bill” May, who passed away on August 23, 1978; and a daughter-in-law, Melissa Rush May, who passed away on April 12, 2009.
She is survived by her daughter, Karla May of Mt. Juliet, TN; and three sons, Bill May (Mary) of Nashville, TN, Joe May (Raquel) of Hendersonville, TN, and Dan May of Nashville, TN.
Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Billy May, Kathleen Sweetland, Leslie May, Bryan May, Nick May, Douglas May, Michelle May, and Josh May; 5 great grandchildren, Cooper, Charlie, Virginia, Rush, and Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Known by all her friends as “Margie,” she was a long-time employee of Larry Fannin’s Chevrolet. When she wasn’t working, she could be found at a gym or ball field watching one of her kids or grandkids play sports. Even through her long battle with dementia, Margie always had a big smile that could light up a room.
Due to COVID-19 requirements set forth by Governor Andy Beshear, private family visitation will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with private burial immediately following at 3 p.m. with Jim Tom Trent officiating at Lee Cemetery.
