Lonnie Richard Terry, 72, of Click Cemetery Road, Morehead, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, at his residence.
Born December 3, 1949, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Orville Terry and Lucille Click Terry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Louise Pelfrey Terry on August 29, 1995; six brothers, Billy Ray, Orville, Norville, Doug, Paul, and Timothy Terry; and four sisters, Faye Roberts, Rita Cornett, Debbie Johnson, and Marshia Whittle.
Lonnie is survived by two sons, Brian Terry and wife Susan and Jonathan “JT” Terry, all of Morehead; one daughter, Tenia Mason of Lexington; and five grandchildren, Makanna Mason, Breeonna Terry, Haley Howard, Braxton Terry, and Ava Terry.
Other survivors include one brother, Mike Terry of Morehead; three sisters, Eula Bell of Morehead, Gerl Kennedy of Camby, Indiana, and Sherl Caudill of Soldier; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Lonnie served in the U.S. Army for four years and retired as a supervisor from American Standard in Prestonsburg after 30 plus years of service. He also had been a United Baptist minister serving several churches at one time in Johnson County from 1980 until his retirement in 2006.
He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, debating with others, and doing arts and crafts. His greatest joy was spending quality time with his children, especially his grandchildren. Lonnie will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jason Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Terry Family Cemetery, 800 Click Cemetery Road, Morehead, KY 40351 with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers will be Braxton Terry, Devin Terry, Paul Terry, Jr., Chris Terry, Nathan Terry, and John Kennedy.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
