Lloyd (Dee) Dewitt White, age 81, of Georgetown, formerly of Clearfield, was born June 22, 1939, in Morehead, Kentucky, and passed away Sunday, September 6, 2020.
Dee is survived by two children, Lloyd White Jr. (daughter-in-law Tammy and granddaughter Haley) of Maysville and Anita Harmon (son-in-law Dan and granddaughter Amanda) of Georgetown; sister, Wanda White Carpenter of Lexington; and other dear relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Taeko Kurokawa White; parents. Clyde Vernon and Bertie Caudill White; brother, Chester White; and sister, Glenna Workman.
Dee served 26 years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Senior Chief. He was stationed in Japan, California, Hawaii, and Vietnam. He received several awards and commendations during his time of service. Following his military service, he worked for the State of Kentucky in the Department of Employment Services helping to place veterans after their military service was complete. Dee also served twelve years on the Rowan County School Board.
Dee was an avid sports fan who loved the Kentucky Wildcats. His granddaughters, Haley and Amanda, were his pride and joy and he loved watching them play their various sports as they were growing up. His legacy will live on through them.
Visitation will be Friday, September 11, 2020, from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Clearfield Cemetery with nephew Rodney Profit officiating. Full military honors will be presented at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post 126.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or donations can be made to Gideons International.
